Finding Potion Ingredients

Throughout Pottermore, you will be given the opportunity to collect Potion Ingredients beyond what you purchase in Diagon Alley. Here’s a listing of ingredients that can be found and collected.

Pottermore Potion Ingredients

  • Wolfsbane (“This plant is also known as monkshood, or aconite.”) — located at the bottom of the barrel outside Hagrid’s door. Chapter 8, Moment 3 — This plant is also found in Chapter 15, Moment 2 at the base of the tree to the right of the Leaping Toadstool
  • Dried nettles — hanging from the eaves to the left side of Hagrid’s hut, Chapter 8, Moment 3
  • Dried Billywig stings — “Rumour has it that they are also used to make the popular sweet, Fizzing Whizzbees.” located in the window to the right, Chapter 8, Moment 3
  • Eels’ Eyes — on the floor in front of the suits of armors, Chapter 9, Moment 2
  • Jar of bat spleens — lying on the floor, Chapter 10, Moment 3
  • Horned slugs  — used to cure boils, hover over the last sink in the back on the left and it will rise up, Chapter 10, Moment 3
  • Infusion of wormwood “By mixing an infusion of wormwood with powdered root of asphodel you can make a sleeping potion so powerful it is known as the Draught of Living Death.” — green bottle behind the galleon, Chapter 12, Moment 2
  • Mistletoe berries — to the right of the Christmas tree with bubbles, Chapter 12, Moment 2
  • Leaping toadstool — base of tree to your left, Chapter 15, Moment 2
  • Unicorn blood — zoom in to the back on base of tree toward left, Chapter 15, Moment 2
  • Salamander blood: “The blood of these small fire-dwelling lizards has curative and restorative properties and can be used in strengthening potions.” — bottle on the sink at the back of the room, Chapter 17, Moment 2
  • Bezoar: “stone taken from the stomach of a goat, which will protect you from most poisons” — In the medicine cabinet in the back, right side, second-from-bottom shelf, Chapter 17, Moment 2

    Potterguide = so helpful, thanks! I don’t have the knack yet of spell casting for duels. Would you consider putting up a page of tips and tricks?
    All my numbers either fall fast to the ground, or sink slowly to the ground.

    Looking forward to your walkthrough when Book 2 comes out!

    i have used up all of my dried nettles while trying to make the potion in snapes class chapter 11. couldnt find more in diagon alley. where can i get more?

    Just go back to Book One, Chpt 8, and they’re hanging in front of Hagrid’s again.

    You can find Slytherin student’s hair in CoS, Chapter 8, moment 2. The hair of the boy second from the right first row.
